V0.2.2 - VR Stages, QoL and more bug fixes


Version 0.2.2 introduces a new batch of bug fixes, a few quality of life additions, as well as content that was planned for the original 0.2 release:

  • The framerate issue has been addressed and likely fixed: in the previous versions, high refresh monitors would trigger some events twice as fast, resulting in softlocks or unbalanced difficulty, this has been fixed by including deltatime to these events.
  • Some critical/softlock bugs have been fixed, in addition to a bunch of other minor bug fixes.
  • Damage scaling for bosses has been added to all difficulties. Now bosses should take more damage if you play in easier difficulties.

New Additions : 

  • VR Chilly Fox fight is now available
  • Spark Mandrill and Gravity Beetle VR stages are now available : you can now play both stages before facing their respective boss (some elements are still under development and will be completed for next version) - Beating the stage will now be required to directly skip to the boss fight

  • "No Damage Mode" allows you to fight a VR boss with only 1 HP, resulting in instant death from any damages

  • It is now possible to skip almost all the cutscenes; a "skip" prompt will appear the first time Start or Enter is pressed; if the prompt doesn't appear, that means the cutscene cannot be skipped

  • A new GAME OVER screen will appear when running out of extra lives; you will be offered two options : Continue from last checkpoint with 2 extra lives by spending E-Crystals, which amount will increase over time (this system  is temporary and will be modified in 0.3), or go back to the title screen

Also not an update but a reminder: Controls can be remapped in the pause menu once you start the game.

     

Some bugs will remain in the game for now, as the engine will go through a massive overhaul for the 0.3 version of the game. As some of you may know, the game as been under work for a very long time, as such a majority of its code is now outdated, and makes the addition of new content more and more difficult. This is why we decided to rework a good chunk of the engine code from scratch using our latest knowledge in terms of Construct 2 workflow, so we can fix those remaining bugs more easily and add more new content with ease ~

Therefore, do not expect the next version to release anytime soon, a kindly reminder that this is a fan project, and that each team member is working on this project using their personal times, while dealing with their personal lives.
